At 5:30PM today (30 Aug), CTM Network Management Center detected a service interruption at Central District of Macau Peninsula. Followed by an immediate and thorough investigation, it was confirmed that the incident was caused by disconnection of an underground major communications cable chamber due to drilling work conducted at a building redevelopment construction site at Travessa do Roquete in Central District. Related communications cable chamber carried a number of large-capacity optical fibers and copper wires, resulting different levels of service interruption caused to the fixed telephony, leased line, internet, and fiber optic TV signal transmission provided for Macau Basic Television Channels Company Ltd and around 1,000 customer groups including government departments, commercial and residential customers
CTM has arranged technical team to undertake emergency maintenance works and rapidly arranged network diversification. Following onsite inspection by the technical team, it was discovered that the cables were seriously damaged. Since the damaged cables were located at a construction site, under the premise of ensuring the safety of personnel, CTM will arrange emergency repairing overnight and strive to have the affected service resumed by 31 Aug.
