The Repairing Work for the Damaged Major Communications Cable Chamber of CTM in Central District Due to Building Redevelopment Construction Has Been Completed

Yesterday (30 Aug), the drilling work conducted at a building redevelopment construction site at Travessa do Roquete in Central District had damaged an underground major communications cable chamber of CTM, resulting different levels of telecom service interruption caused to the neighborhood.

 

Following onsite inspection by the technical team, it was discovered that the cables were seriously damaged, CTM arranged over 30 technicians for onsite repair work, and over 20 technicians for backend support. After overnight emergency repairing,  at 8 am on August 31, 90% of the restoration work was done. The on-site restoration work was once hindered by the unstable weather in the afternoon. As at 1145 pm on 31 August, all affected communications services were resumed.

 

CTM urges the relevant contractors to strictly supervise the workers during construction work, to strengthen training and reinforce work standard so as to avoid damaging the public service facilities during construction and causing inconvenience to the residents.
