CTM Hosted “AI + Big Data Smart Solutions Design Competition” Briefing Session
With an aim to inspire students in Macau to embrace the AI wave, CTM is organizing the “Creating an AI Smart Society Together – CTM AI+ Big Data Smart Solutions Design Competition”. Since the opening of participation registration, the competition has garnered enthusiastic involvement from a diverse array of students and residents. To further enrich participants' understanding of AI tools and the accompanying competition logistics, CTM is organizing a briefing session, in which the session will feature a representative from Baidu, who will offer comprehensive insights into the evolution of AI technology, emerging industry trends and key models of AI tools.
The briefing session of the “CTM AI+ Big Data Smart Solutions Design Competition” was held today afternoon (21st November) at the Function Hall of the Macao New Chinese Youth Association and was attended by near 100 participants. Ebel Cham, Vice President of Commercial, CTM exclaimed that the rapid advancement of AI technology is remarkable. To support the Macau SAR Government's “1+4” initiative for moderate economic diversification and to help sectors to seize opportunities in AI development, CTM is committed to deepening local AI applications and actively nurturing talent in the field. To promote the vision of an “AI Macau” and encourage greater participation in AI development, CTM is hosting the “AI+ Big Data Smart Solutions Design Competition”, inviting Baidu to co-organize the event. The goal of this competition is to inspire participants to explore limitless creative possibilities in their AI applications riding Baidu's expertise in AI.
Ebel Cham said that since the opening of registration, the two competition categories have received an accumulated number of near 800 applications, with participation from around 40 primary, secondary and higher education institutions, reflecting a robust interest in the event. She expressed her hope that this competition will enable more students and residents to experience firsthand the powerful capabilities of AI applications and to showcase their limitless creativity, hopefully to inject impetus into the vision of an “AI Macau” and to foster the development of diverse AI application scenarios and contributing to the multifaceted growth of the “1+4” industries.
Liu Haifeng, General Manager of Enterprise AI Services of Baidu AI Cloud, stated that as one of the earliest and most established companies in the field of AI in the country, Baidu is committed to empowering industries by integrating AI capabilities, developing AI-native solutions and accelerating smart transformations. In March of this year, Baidu partnered with CTM and CPTTM to provide AI training courses recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China for organizations in Macau. This initiative aims to foster the development of AI talent in the region, many students have already participated and received their certificates. Baidu envisages participants of this competition will experience the allure of AI technology through applications developed by Baidu.
Representatives of Baidu attending the briefing session include Liu Haifeng, General Manager of Baidu Cloud Enterprise AI Services; Yu Buo, Sales Director of Baidu AI Cloud for the Hong Kong-Macau region and Zhang Li, Senior AI Services and Product Manager.
“Creating an AI Smart Society Together – CTM AI+ Big Data Smart Solutions Design Competition” include two categories: the “Generative AI Creativity Competition” for primary school students and the “Innovative‧Creative AI+ Big Data Smart Solutions Competition” for secondary school students, university students and the general public. Aimed at local primary school students, the “Generative AI Creativity Competition” centered around the theme “The Ideal Vision of a Gigabit AI Macau”. Participants will engage in generative creation based on this theme. On the other hand, participants of “Innovative‧Creative AI+ Big Data Smart Solutions Competition”, including local secondary, higher education students and the general public are required to utilize AI and big data technologies to create a smart application that improves or optimizes current governmental, business or everyday scenarios.
Outstanding entries of the “Generative AI Creativity Competition” will receive cash prizes of MOP 2,000 and certificates, while the top entries will be awarded MOP 5,000 along with trophies. The “Innovative‧Creative AI+ Big Data Smart Solutions Competition” will offer several categories of awards, including an Outstanding Grand Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize and finalist awards, with prizes of MOP 20,000, MOP 10,000, MOP 8,000 and MOP 5,000 respectively, in addition to trophies. Furthermore, winning entries may be recommended by the Organizer to participate in mainland or international AI competitions.
This competition is organized by CTM, in partnership with the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau, the Education and Youth Development Bureau and Baidu Cloud aiming at collaboratively fostering the development of AI talent in Macau.
