3G Service Exit Information Page

To accelerate the development of "Digital Macau", Macau's 3G network has exit since 5 June 2025.

 

 

 

 

1.    What's the reason for the 3G network exit?
To keep up with global communication trends, various regions have gradually phased out their 3G networks to have better deployment for the new telecom technologies and service provision. In order to accelerate the development of smart city, Macau's 3G network has exit since 5 June 2025 and relevant spectrum resources have been returned to government.


2.    What should I do if my device currently cannot use voice calls, data services, or send/receive SMS messages?
Please check whether your device supports and is configured to use 4G / 5G networks and VoLTE voice functionality. For setup instructions, please visit: https://s.ctm.net/Nn359 . If you are using a 3G device, you must upgrade to a device that support 4G / 5G networks with VoLTE functionality to continue using voice calls, data services, and SMS messaging. 3.    I am a 4G / 5G device customer, Why can't I make a voice call after the 3G service has exit?
There are still some 4G / 5G devices that do not support VoLTE voice functionality. Customers are recommended to check if your device supports VoLTE function by referring to the instructions above, and confirming that the functionality is activated.


4.    Will my data usage be consumed for voice calls over 4G (VoLTE)?
Voice calls over 4G (VoLTE) will not consume data usage.

 

5.    How can I make a voice call over 4G (VoLTE) after the 3G network has exit?
As long as you use a device that supports 4G / 5G network and VoLTE voice functionality, and have activated VoLTE voice functionality successfully, you can make / receive calls as usual with no difference.


6.    Does the currently used SIM card need to be replaced? Can customers check on their own?
