CTM Joins the World’s First Wave of Operators to Launch Commercial U6GHz Scenarios

CTM is pleased to announce the successful launch of Macau’s first “U6GHz Experience Zone” at the Roof Terrace and Spectacle of MGM COTAI, marking CTM as one of the world’s pioneer operators to introduce commercial U6GHz application scenario.

 

Thomas Ng, Vice President, Network Services of CTM stated that since establishing Macau’s dual 10 Gigabit network infrastructure in 2025, CTM has continuously expanded the coverage of its 10-Gigabit network architecture while actively engaging in pre-research for 6G deployment, staying closely aligned with global telecom developments. The U6GHz spectrum offers three core advantages: ultra-high capacity, extreme speed and broad coverage. It is specifically engineered for high-density environments, significantly boosting network capacity to smoothly handle massive concurrent usage and deliver an exceptional, stable mobile experience. As one of the pioneer operators globally to deploy this technology, it represents a critical milestone in Macau’s ongoing network infrastructure evolution and injects new momentum into the digital transformation of cultural tourism.

 

U6GHz represents a critical chapter in the evolution of mobile network technology as it moves from 5.5G (5G-Advanced) toward 6G. Featuring contiguous large-bandwidth spectrum advantages, CTM has deployed state-of-the-art VitaAAU wireless base stations. The hardware is powered by hundred-level channel architecture (256T256R), thousand-level antenna arrays and a TTI-level beam sweeping system, fully unleashing the large-bandwidth capabilities of the U6GHz band. Furthermore, the VitaAAU base stations incorporate RetinaMIMO technology to achieve high-speed beam scanning with extended coverage distance and higher pointing precision. This enables U6GHz to match the coverage levels of existing C-band (3.5GHz) base stations while delivering a simultaneous leap in both network capacity and user experience.
