The website of the Security Departments encountered a large-scale distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS) from outside Macau starting at 8:00 last night (10th). As the service provider of Distributed Blocking Attack Protection Services for the Security Departments, CTM had promptly undertaken emergency management measures and procedures in collaboration with the authorities to successfully block the attack traffic.
In regard to this incident of large-scale DDoS attacks toward the Security Departments, CTM has submitted a preliminary report. Serving as a network security service provider, CTM endeavours to safeguard the overall telecom and network security of Macau. To excel high standard network security mechanism to prevent future cyberattacks, CTM will invite relevant departments to conduct a comprehensive investigation and review of the operational logs, data records, action plans, network security systems, equipment and configuration between parties related to this cybersecurity incident. CTM has submitted a preliminary report to the authorities regarding this large-scale distributed denial-of-service attack. As a responsible network security service provider, CTM has always been committed to protecting Macau’s overall communications and network security. Addressing the incident, CTM will invite the authorities to set up a joint force to review the operation logs, data records, contingency measures, network security systems and equipment, and will conduct a comprehensive study and review of the systems and configuration, under the collaboration of both parties to establish a high standard network security mechanism to tackle similar network attacks.
