To promote the development of Macau Smart City, CTM and the University of Macau signed a strategic cooperation agreement as early as in 2018. To deepen the collaboration in industry-academia-research projects through leveraging both parties’ resource advantages, the successful completion of projects including "Tourism Big Data Algorithm Research" and "Automation Customer Experience Testing Tool Development" have injected new vitality into supporting the diversified development strategy of Macau's 1+4 industries. Today (23rd), CTM and UMAC jointly announced expansion strategic cooperation, which aims to explore the collaboration on AI and Big Data.
The signing ceremony of continuous strategic cooperation agreement between CTM and UMAC was held at the CTM’s exhibition hall in the Beyond EXPO on 23rd May. Under the witnessed of Professor Ge Wei, Vice Rector (Research) of the University of Macau, and Mr. Vandy Poon, CEO of CTM, Professor XU Chengzhong, Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology of UMAC and Ms. Ebel Cham, Vice President, Commercial of CTM signed the strategic cooperation agreement, which signifies both parties will continue to deepen their collaboration in industry-academia-research projects in the fields of AI, big data riding on their previous fruitful cooperation.
Ms. Ebel Cham said that the University of Macau has always been at the forefront of world-class technology, conducting research and exploration in various innovative applications. As an important partner of CTM, as early as in 2018, both parties joined hands to explore industry-academia collaborations in the fields of Big Data and IoT. In 2023, CTM and UMAC started the collaboration project of "Tourism Big Data Algorithm Research" and "Automation Customer Experience Testing Tool Development." The achievements of the tourism big data research have stimulated the Smart Tourism development of Macau. CTM will continue to deepen the cooperation with UMAC in fields of 5.5G, AI, big data, and smart IoT applications, to create more smart application scenarios for Macau.
Professor XU Chengzhong, Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology of UMac said that UMAC has a deep technical accumulation in communication technology and applications, especially in communication theory, algorithms, hardware chip implementation, as well as the application of smart city IoT, all of which are at the forefront of scientific and technological research. It’s believed to play a great role in promoting the development of communication in Macau through the strong collaboration between UMAC and CTM. As the recognition of previous achievement, the continuous collaboration, especially in the direction of industry-university-research, is expected to step into a higher level.
During the occasion, the industry-academia project delivery ceremony was held to announce that CTM will enable to provide more smart scenarios by its Big Data application service brought by the delivery of "Tourism Big Data Algorithm Research", whereas the delivery of "Automation Customer Experience Testing Tool Development" project will accelerate the smart workflow transformation of CTM and provide an unparalleled service experience to customers. After the projects are delivered, both parties will initiate the next phase of new research project collaboration.
After the ceremony, CTM conducted an exhibition tour for the representatives from UMac that showcase the infrastructures and smart solutions of Digital Macau 3.0 including applications of cultural tourism, health industry, AI+Big Data, network security technologies, multi-network integration, and next-generation high-speed networks.
