CTM Joined Hands with CEM to Ensure Consistent and Reliable Delivery of Public Services During Important Events

Serving as the public utility companies of Macau, CTM and Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (“CEM”) have continuously invested in the stable supply of public services and the safety of the corresponding facilities to provide quality and reliable services to all sectors of the community. CTM and CEM have joined hands to strengthen joint prevention works for the safety of equipment and the consistent and reliable supply of services during a series of important events, covering emergency power resource allocation, system network security, joint drills, and review and optimization of contingency plans, to comprehensively strengthen the cooperation between the two parties, enhancing the coordination capability of security and response to crutial events. The two parties have successfully completed the work of service protection during the period of important events. 

 

Mr. Thomas Ng, Vice President, Network Services, CTM, said that as a leading local smart city service provider, CTM has always attached great importance to information and network security, and has continuously invested in resources to enhance disaster resilience and preventive capabilities of its network and information systems, including power, operating system, network and information security. CTM and CEM are both critical infrastructure operators, and both parties have formulated a series of emergency coordination plans in response to unforeseen events, such as typhoons and flooding, etc. Based on the existing cooperation and coordination, CTM have further enhanced the emergency dispatch and network defense capability and its intensity in response to crutial events, so as to jointly build up a strong network security barrier for public services and facilities.

 

Mr. Simon Young, Director of Transmission and Distribution Department (Power Network Management), CEM stated that, at the beginning of the year, CEM had formulated a plan to ensure power supply for the series of activities of the Double Celebrations, and had continued to exchange views and provide technical advice to various departments especially for the large-scale activities had held at the Macao East Asian Games Dome. In order to ensure stable power supply, CEM upgraded the configuration of the venue's power supply, replaced equipment and installed uninterruptible power supply sources and power boxes, and conducted special inspections and repairs with CTM on important equipment such as the communication network to ensure uninterrupted communication during the events. In terms of contingency plan, CEM strictly enforced the 24-hour on-duty system, and was equipped with sufficient emergency repair materials, spare parts and generator fuel stock. CEM also conducted an inter-departmental power system incident drill and full load test on the eve of the event to prepare for any possible emergencies.

 

The close cooperation between CTM and CEM team has successfully completed the service assurance work during series of events. Both teams look forward to deepening the cooperation in their respective fields in the future, in order to provide quality and reliable communication and power supply services to the public and all walks of life.
