Marine and Water Bureau Visited CTM Exchanged Insights on Smart Maritime and AI Applications

To support the development of a “AI Macau”, CTM has been actively collaborating with the Government, local organizations and business partners to create a wider range of smart application scenarios and enrich the city’s digital ecosystem. On April 21, Wong Soi Man, Director of the Marine and Water Bureau, led a delegation to CTM for an in-depth exchange on topics including smart maritime management and applications of AI technologies.

 

On the afternoon of that day, Wong Soi Man, Director of the Marine and Water Bureau, led a delegation of over 20 department representatives to visit CTM. They were warmly received by Ebel Cham, Vice President of Commercial, CTM, and the CTM team. During the visit, Ebel expressed a warm welcome to the delegation and provided a detailed introduction to CTM’s latest technological applications and practices in smart network operation, AI, Big Data and Large Language Models. This showcased CTM’s determination and commitment to leveraging its leading AI capabilities to fully support the digital transformation of the Macau community. At the same time, she welcomed the DSAMA team to engage in in-depth exchanges and provide guidance on requirements regarding daily network operations and smart application scenarios.

 

Wong Soi Man expressed her gratitude for the warm reception from CTM, noting that the Marine and Water Bureau actively organizes staff to expand exchanges and deepen understanding with community stakeholders. This exchange with CTM’s counterpart teams, including the IT and telecommunications departments, aims to further understand the current state of cutting-edge technology applications such as AI and Big Data. This will continuously enhance the Bureau's capabilities in smart maritime services and management.

 

During the meeting, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as AI technology and its latest use cases, operational efficiency, cybersecurity and emergency response support. Following the meeting, the delegation visited the CTM Network Management Center and Data Center to gain a deeper understanding of CTM's comprehensive efforts in ensuring overall telecommunications and network security.

 

Representatives from the Marine and Water Bureau included Chan Un Seng, Head of Maritime Services Department; Lei Chi Ian, Head of the Navigation Surveillance Division; Cheong Hoi Kei, Head of the Administration Division; Wong Kuan Lun, Head of the Marine Technology Division and Kuok Choi Fun, Head of the Research and Legal Affairs Division, among others.
