Rooted in Macau for 45 years, CTM remains committed to serving the community through corporate social responsibility, advancing digital accessibility and promoting local social welfare. In celebration of its 45th anniversary, CTM partnered with the UGAMM “Peng On Tung” Tele-Assistance Service to organize the “Shinning Together 45” Community Care Initiative. During the event, CTM representatives visited “Peng On Tung” elderly service users, delivering customized essential items such as household appliances and motorized wheelchairs to meet their specific needs and enhance their quality of life.
The Kick-Off Ceremony for the “Shining Together at 45” Community Care Initiative was held this afternoon (29th) at the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM) Community Service Building. The event was officiated by Chan Ka Leong, Director-General of UGAMM; Lam Man Chi, Vice Director-General and Social Service Director; Leong Weng Ian, Social Service Office Coordinator, alongside CTM representatives Terri Kuan, Vice President of Finance; Thomas Lau, Vice President of Customer Services and Eliza Chan, Director of Corporate Communications.
Chan Ka Leong expressed his gratitude to CTM for its long-standing support of UGAMM’s community initiatives in his welcoming speech. Over the past 17 years, CTM has consistently delivered reliable, high-quality telecommunications services to the “Peng On Tung” Tele-Assistance Service, while offering elderly users benefits such as waived installation and relocation fees for fixed-line phones, as well as monthly service discounts. To mark CTM’s 45th anniversary, both organizations have partnered to launch this warmth-sharing campaign, bringing care and tailored household appliances to 45 “Peng On Tung” elderly households. He highlighted that this initiative demonstrates CTM’s deep commitment to public welfare and its steadfast dedication to corporate social responsibility.
He highlighted that UGAMM's “Peng On Tung” Tele-Assistance Service, established in 2009 and expanded with an outdoor component in 2018, provides uninterrupted 24/7 emergency response services to solitary elderlies, elderly couple households, individuals with chronic conditions and residents requiring assistance throughout Macau. The program delivers customized living support, fostering social integration so elderly citizens can age comfortably within their own communities. Over the years, “Peng On Tung” has become a vital platform for community care, demonstrating how social service organizations and corporations can unite to build an age-friendly, inclusive environment. To meet evolving community needs, “Peng On Tung” has successfully completed testing for its wireless emergency call system, with the new devices expected to be rolled out on a trial basis by the end of 2026.
Speaking on behalf of CTM, Eliza Chan highlighted the enduring partnership between CTM and UGAMM. CTM has been the exclusive network partner for the “Peng On Tung” Tele-Assistance Service since its launch in 2009. Over the past 17 years, bound by a common dedication to serving the community, both organizations have successfully collaborated on fixed-line and outdoor telecare solutions and CTM remains fully committed to supporting the development of the new wireless emergency devices.
Eliza Chan stated that over the past 45 years, CTM has actively driven digital inclusion by offering special concessionary telecom plans, covering mobile services, fiber broadband and free Wi-Fi to community groups in need, alongside fostering a robust community care network through charitable endeavors. In partnership with UGAMM, the “Shining Together at 45” Community Care Initiative delivers practical material support, including home appliances, electric wheelchairs and hospital beds to “Peng On Tung” elderly service users to enhance their quality of life and daily comfort. The theme underscores CTM’s 45-year commitment to serving as a connection through “light”, growing hand-in-hand with Macau’s community while constructing world-class smart infrastructure. It also represents the collective aggregation of care from CTM and community partners to reach vulnerable individuals. CTM looks forward to deepening partnerships with UGAMM and other charitable organizations to build a more harmonious Macau.
Moving forward, CTM will continue to partner with different sectors of society to champion community care initiatives. By leveraging innovative information technology, CTM aims to create smart lifestyle scenarios that meet the diverse needs of different community groups, jointly building a harmonious “AI Macau”.
