CTM as the first telecom operator to prelude eSIM in Macau Promote IoT development in full swing

Aiming to accelerate the development of “Digital Macau 2.0”, CTM consistently invests resources to actively introduce cutting edge ICT technology and applications. On the celebration activity of “World Telecommunication & Information Society Day” held on today (May 17), CTM has demonstrated a number of applications about Cloud Computing, 5G new entertainment pattern and etc., meanwhile, the company has made an official announcement of launching eSIM service in Macau, being the first telecom operator to launch such service, with the objective to accelerate the development pace of IoT and digital evolution in Macau.

 

CTM stated that IoT technology and applications are the important components of a “Digital Macau 2.0”, as the first telecom operator in Macau to launch eSIM service, it demonstrates CTM’s determination and commitment on promoting the construction of smart city. 5G and eSIM are inseparable to the development of IoT and Internet of Vehicle, it is believed that the launch of eSIM will greatly accelerate the development pace of IoT in Macau, realizing the smart living experience of Internet of Everything. CTM will continuously explore further eSIM application scenarios, including on wearable devices, Internet of Vehicle, and etc. The first phase of CTM eSIM service supports all prepaid card and mobile postpaid service with covering designated handset models1 that support eSIM. It is expected that CTM eSIM service will extend the coverage to other smart wearable devices by the end of the year.

 

eSIM is an embedded chip, digitalizing physical SIM card. Customers could easily apply and enjoy mobile service at any time anywhere after scanning the QR code, certain handsets could support multiple eSIM at the same time, offering a more convenient, time efficient, and higher security mobile communications experience to customers. As to enabling residents to have the splendid experience brought by eSIM, CTM releases free eSIM offer to all Macau residents, residents with handsets that support eSIM service, could apply CTM eSIM service through CTM Buddy App, CTM Wechat OA or CTM.net, after activation customer will receive 5GB free mobile data and 100 minutes voice service. After the free data and voice service had been run out, customers could top-up the eSIM as normal prepaid card to continuously enjoy CTM seamless mobile service.

 

Designated handset models (Hong Kong / Macau version and other overseas versions) supporting eSIM are: iPhone 12 mini, iPhone SE2, iPhone Xs, HUAWEI P40, HUAWEI P40 Pro, HUAWEI Mate 40 Pro, Samsung Z Flip 4G.
