As the Network Partner of Beyond Expo CTM Building a Solid Foundation of “Cloud, Network, Intelligence and Security”

Being the smart city service provider in Macau, CTM has fully supported and participated in the BEYOND EXPO and once again became the Network Partner of the event by providing high-quality network communications services for the event while at the same time will set up an exhibition booth of over 180 sqm to showcase the latest development of CTM’s “Cloud, Network, Intelligence and Security” digital foundation and various CTM 5G+ smart solutions, demonstrating CTM’s determination and commitment in fulfilling the “Digital Macau” smart city vision and enabling all sectors to accelerate their pace in smart transformation.

 

Showcasing Innovative Smart Solutions

 

At the Beyond Expo, CTM showcased an array of self-developed smart solutions, including big data service solution, 5G network solutions, 5G+ cultural tourism smart application, smart expo and metaverse solution, smart medical “Doctor Easy” application, Baidu AI “Ernie Bot” and 5G smart living and entertainment related products and services, etc.

 

 

Conducting Cooperative Research on Big Data in Tourism with the University of Macau

 

On the day of the event, “CTM x University of Macau Cooperative Research on Big Data Collaboration Agreement Signing Ceremony” was conducted at CTM’s booth in BEYOND EXPO. Under the witness of Mr. Vandy Poon, CEO of CTM and Dr. Claudia Xu Jian, Vice Rector of the University of Macau, the two parties signed a collaboration agreement to push forward the development of big data in tourism in the near future, committed to opening a new chapter for the evolution of Macau’s smart tourism.

 

Eunice Cheang, Vice President, Strategic Programs of CTM, expressed gratitude for the University of Macau’s support and cooperation in the field of big data research. CTM and the University of Macau have been jointly exploring 5G smart applications and living scenarios that meet local needs, continuously enriching Macau’s 5G ecosystem and actively seeking co-operations between industries, universities and research institutes.  It is believed that the big data tourism model cooperation will inject more smart elements into the development of Macau’s smart tourism.

 

Mr. Alfred WONG, Project Co-Principal Investigator and Associate Professor, FST of UM, and Ms. Siu Ian SO, Associate Professor in Integrated Resort and Tourism Management Assistant Dean of UM said that it’s a great pleasure to cooperate with CTM, hoping the big data algorithm model can be used to explore more elements and development space, and make greater progress and breakthroughs for Macau's tourism industry.

 

CTM 5G Officially Launched in Macau’s Land and Sea

Transportation System

 

In addition, CTM also jointly held the “CTM 5G Land and Sea Smart Public Transport Inauguration Ceremony” with Sociedade de Transportes Colectivos de Macau, SA (TCM), Transportes Urbanos de Macau S.A.R.L. (TRANSMAC) and Shun Tak- China Travel Ship Management Ltd., announcing the official launch of CTM 5G in Macau’s land and sea transportation system. This marks a solid step in the progression of Macau’s smart public transportation.

 

CTM stated that since 2015, CTM has actively promoted and extended convenient network services to public land and sea transport in Macau. Until now, CTM has provided Wi-Fi services riding on mobile networks to 1,000 land and sea transport vehicles, serving more than 10 million users. With the official launch of CTM 5G, CTM joined hands with TCM, TRANSMAC and Shun Tak- China Travel to take the lead in expanding 5G services to public transportation, opening a new chapter for Macau’s smart transportation.

 

TCM said that since 2016, TCM and CTM have been collaborating to provide Bus Wi-Fi services riding on 4G network, creating a prototype for the development of smart transportation in Macau and bringing more convenient and user-friendly bus services to citizens and tourists. As a world center of tourism and leisure, Macau is committed to developing into a high-quality tourist destination, with the arrival of 5G technology, TCM hopes to employ this technology more effectively onto public transportation, to further improve the quality of passengers’ travel experiences and better support the city’s development. Currently, 5G service testing has begun on a small number of TCM bus routes. TCM will actively participate in CTM’s 5G campaign and join hands to contribute for the development of smart city in Macau. 

 

TRANSMAC said that TRANSMAC and CTM have maintained a close partnership, from the early days of providing free bus Wi-Fi to the current testing of 5G bus services. Both parties are devoted to continuously update services to keep pace with the times, so as to provide passengers with qualitied bus services and experience. Upholding the business objective of “TRANSMAC - Innovation and Progression”, and with smart buses as one of the key components of Macau’s future smart transportation development, TRANSMAC envisages that the testing will yield positive results, enabling future cooperation in 5G applications on public transportation, and ultimately helping to enhance efficiency and quality of life for citizens and passengers.

 

Shun Tak- China Travel said that Fast and stable transmission technology is particularly important for modern traveling. As a pioneer in the maritime industry, TurboJET is committed to leading the industry in optimizing overall travel experience. Through TurboJET’s collaboration with CTM, they hope to use 5G technology to further enable passengers to conveniently engage in various online entertainment activities and manage their travel arrangements while on board. Moreover, this will promote the operational efficiency of the company by enabling faster exchange of traveling data with different ports and providing real-time information to citizens and passengers, taking the concept of seamless travel to a new level.
