Cham also stated that, to promote the application of IoT in Macau, CTM proactively deployed eSIM services as early as 2020, officially launched CTM eSIM service in May 2021, with subsequent extension to smart wearable devices. According to the report issued by GSMA in 2024, global eSIM smartphone connections are expected to reach 1 billion by 2025 and 7 billion by 2030. eSIM technology offers enhanced flexibility and security, enabling local users to manage multiple numbers with ease and allowing international travelers to seamlessly switch between destination networks.
