To facilitate the digital transformation of different sectors in Macau, CTM is actively exploring and unlocking the integrated potential of "Dual 10-Gigabit · AI+ Security" to build a comprehensive, one-stop smart security foundation. Today (15th May), during the "World Telecommunication and Information Society Day" celebration organized by the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT), CTM showcased a suite of cutting-edge technologies and applications, including Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) for secure communications, AI for Network Operations and Cybersecurity Authentication services powered by the GSMA Open Gateway. These innovations establish a robust digital security foundation, supporting government, enterprises and the banking and finance sectors in their digital transformation journeys.
At the celebration event, CTM leveraged its leading Dual 10-Gigabit and AI capabilities to debut a comprehensive suite of smart and secure solutions designed to address evolving societal concerns on digital security. Hudson Lou, Director of Network & Services Development, CTM stated that aside from the launch of Cybersecurity Authentication service based on the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, CTM is taking a proactive approach to cybersecurity as the digital landscape evolves. With the rapid advancement of supercomputing, AI, and quantum computing, traditional encryption systems are facing significant challenges. To stay ahead of these threats, CTM plans to implement Quantum Secure Direct Communication technology by 2027 and deploy Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) solutions. Through collaboration with the government, banks, financial institutions and universities, CTM aims to fortify the security foundations of different smart scenarios, including the Digital Macau Pataca (e-MOP), smart finance, data security and electronic payments.
He mentioned that in order to cater to the needs of different smart application scenarios in the near future, CTM will introduce AI for Network Operations technologies leveraging large model engines, digital twins and multi-agent collaboration. This initiative aims to establish a closed-loop process encompassing perception, analysis, decision-making and execution to achieve autonomous maintenance throughout the cybersecurity lifecycle. By continuously enhancing network performance, service quality and security, CTM is committed to advancing toward L4 Autonomous Network capabilities.
In addition, Hutchison Telephone Macau also participated in the exhibition. Terri Kuan, Vice President of Finance, CTM and Director of Board, Hutchison Telephone Macau, stated that the original shareholders of Hutchison Telephone Macau decided to exit the Macau telecommunications market last year. Building on the successful experience of the orderly migration of customers and employees during SmarTone’s exit from the Macau market, the original shareholders of Hutchison Telephone Macau proactively approached CTM to discuss a transition plan. Driven by a shared commitment to safeguarding customers’ rights and ensuring employee job security and a healthy and sustainable development of the local telecommunications market, CTM and Hutchison Telephone reached an acquisition agreement at the end of 2025 and Hutchison Telephone Macau officially the subsidiary of CTM on January 12, 2026. The company will fully implement CTM’s vision for smart city development. Through seamless collaboration of both teams and the integration of CTM’s resources, the acquisition aims to provide customers with higher quality and more reliable telecommunications services while offering a broader development platform for Hutchison Telephone Macau employees. The continued support of all sectors of the community is highly appreciated.
CTM will continue to invest resources to drive the development of an “AI Macau” vision and create more smart application scenarios tailored to the needs of Macau.
