Continued Dedication to Serving Macau CTM Rolls Out One-off Comprehensive Communications Services Pricing Scheme CTM Unfolds “AI Macau” New Vision

CTM and the Macau SAR Government signed a Supplementary Agreement to the “Midterm Review of Concession Agreement of the Public Telecommunications Service” in mid-September, extending the Agreement until 30th September, 2027. To support the Macau SAR Government pushing forward the reform of telecommunications industry for a more business-friendly environment, and enhancing citizens’ sense of satisfaction. After discussion with the Macau SAR Government, CTM rolls out a one-off pricing scheme covering full range of communications services, customers are entitled to this scheme automatically, with no application required.

 

This afternoon (20th), CTM held a press briefing titled “Continued Dedication to Serving Macau: Unfolds “AI Macau” New Vision”, and was attended by the company’s Executive Committee members, including Ebel Cham, Vice President of Commercial; Thomas Ng, Vice President of Network Services; Terri Kuan, Vice President of Finance; Komix Hui, Vice President of Information Technology; Thomas Lau, Vice President of Customer Service and Eliza Chan, Director of Corporate Communications and Secretary to Executive Committee. The event highlighted the company’s upcoming development plans focused on the applications of AI, Big Data, marking the launch of a new chapter in the “AI Macau” vision. On the occasion of CTM’s 44th Anniversary, the company announced the launch of the One-off Comprehensive Communications Services Pricing Scheme.

 

During the occasion, Thomas Ng, Vice President of Network Services gave an overview of the company’s latest network development plan. He stated that CTM is focusing on enhancing 5.5G (5G-A), 50G PON and AI technologies to further construct its 10-Gigabit network infrastructure. Following the introduction of Macau's inaugural “10-Gigabit Smart Community” in May, the company has expedited the expansion of 10-Gigabit network coverage and successfully achieved full 50G-PON coverage. During the Net 5.5G Intelligent IP Network Summit at the 11th Ultra-Broadband Forum held on 13th and 14th October in Paris, France, CTM unveiled the “Dual-Gigabit Sports Pavilion” solution, highlighting its achievement of 10-Gigabit coverage in sports venues through the deployment of 5.5G (5G-A) mmWave technology, 50G-PON and high-speed Wi-Fi 7 networks. During the forum, CTM together with the World Broadband Association (WBBA) and leading operators and equipment manufacturers to jointly release the Net5.5G R2 Industry White Paper and was awarded “AI-WAN” Best Implementation Award at the IPv6 Forum. This signifies CTM’s dedication to engaging in and validating technological pathways for AI-driven high-speed networks, marking a new chapter in the development of an “AI Macau” network infrastructure.

 

When introducing the “AI Macau” development plan, Ebel Cham, Vice President of Commercial emphasized that CTM will harness its advanced dual 10-Gigabit network infrastructure and AI technology to drive digital transformation across various sectors in Macau through prioritizing investments in the large models for language, legal and regulatory and transportation systems, at the same time enhancing the capabilities of big data and local computing.

 

In terms of language large models, the company will focus on developing and implementing a Portuguese language model, creating application scenarios for report generation, audio and video translation, Portuguese consultations, and e-commerce customer service, aiming to bolster Macau’s role as a service platform for economic and trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. In terms of legal and regulatory models, the company aspires to implement applications for legal knowledge inquiries. These enhancements are designed to provide more efficient and convenient legal consultation services to citizens. In the context of transportation systems, CTM will leverage IoT, Big Data, AI and collaborative roadway technologies to deploy applications like real-time traffic monitoring and dynamic alert systems, ushering the advancement of smart transportation in Macau. Furthermore, CTM will integrate Baidu Maps to enhance smart mobility and enrich the overall smart tourism experience.

 

Regarding Big Data services, CTM will continue to enhance its platform capabilities by integrating AI algorithms into localized models. This will enable the provision of anonymized real-time data analysis services to government and business sectors, improving support for public administration and business decision making. In addition, CTM plans to collaborate with partners to create a decentralized data platform that offers cross-border compliance solutions for businesses in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.

 

To support SMEs in expanding their online sales channels and accelerating their integration into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, CTM plans to launch the “Macau Certified Shop” e-platform offering a direct, efficient and reliable access to the Greater Bay Area market. By leveraging live broadcast e-commerce and other formats, it will connect Macau merchants with consumers in the region, thereby enhancing overall sales and marketing effectiveness.

Aiming to support the Macau SAR Government in creating a more business-friendly environment, and enhancing citizens’ sense of satisfaction, after discussed with CTT, CTM rolls out a one-off pricing scheme covering full range of communications services. Customers, including SMEs, large corporates, government departments and individual customers, who have applied for CTM's services on or before 30th September, 2025 are entitled to this scheme. Eligible SME broadband users can receive a 20% discount on the net monthly subscription fee for ordinary broadband services during the first month of each quarter in 2026. Current monthly plan of fixed telephony service for ordinary business customers will be lowered to MOP140 with effect from January 2026. Customers at the same time subscribing ordinary business broadband services can even enjoy a discounted rate of MOP112 per month, with a maximum reduction rate of up to 44%. On the other hand, eligible customers from large corporates and government departments can receive a 20% discount on the net monthly subscription fee for business broadband services in January and July 2026 respectively and a 10% discount on the net monthly subscription fee for Direct Internet Access (DIA) and local and International private leased circuit service. Whereas eligible individual customers using residential broadband services are entitled to 10% off on their net monthly subscription fee during the first month of each quarter in 2026. Furthermore, starting in January 2026, the price for additional CTM mobile data will be reduced from MOP13 per GB to MOP8 per GB, reflecting a reduction of approximately 38.5%.
