The 2026 World Internet Congress (WIC) Asia-Pacific Summit, themed “Digital Intelligence Empowerment for Innovative Development — Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace”, held its opening ceremony in Hong Kong on 13 April. As a Senior Member of the WIC, Mr. Vandy Poon, CEO of CTM, led a delegation to attend the Summit. During the Government–Enterprise Dialogue session, CTM focused on topics including Hong Kong–Macao collaboration in supporting Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) enterprises’ digital and intelligent transformation and global expansion.
Led by Mr. Poon, the CTM delegation participated in the WIC Asia-Pacific Summit in Hong Kong, and was invited to attend the Government–Enterprise Dialogue session themed “Government–Enterprise Synergy, Prosperity and Development”. The session was co-chaired by Mr. Ren Xianliang, Secretary-General of the WIC, and Prof. Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR Government. The session aimed to strengthen communication and collaboration between government and enterprises, establish a platform for policy interpretation and information exchange, and expand opportunities for cross-borders cooperation.
At the session, senior representatives from the HKSAR Government and GBA enterprises exchanged views on topics including cross-borders data flows, AI governance, facilitation of cross-borders investment and financing, and enterprises’ digital and intelligent global expansion. As the only representative from Macau at the session, Mr. Poon enquired whether the HKSAR Government would introduce new initiatives or measures to further enhance Hong Kong–Macau collaboration, so as to create greater room for participation by Macau enterprises and jointly support and better serve GBA enterprises in their digital and intelligent overseas expansion.
In response, Mr. Lau Chi Yuen of Invest Hong Kong stated that support could be strengthened through institutionalized collaboration, resource integration and dedicated taskforces for mainland enterprises’ overseas expansion, thereby providing stronger support for GBA enterprises’ digital and intelligent global expansion in areas such as investment and professional services, including market financing, legal advisory and brand promotion.
Following the session, Mr. Poon, together with Mr. Thomas Ng, Vice President, Network Services, CTM, Ms. Ebel Cham, Vice President, Commercial, and Ms. Eliza Chan, Director of Corporate Communications, attended the Main Forum of the Summit, engaged in exchanges and interactions with representatives from international organizations, governments and enterprises, as well as experts and scholars from around the world, on key topics including digital intelligence empowerment and innovative development.
CTM will continue to stay abreast of the latest global developments in the digital intelligence domain. By developing AI+ intelligent transformation solutions for diverse scenarios, CTM remains committed to better supporting Macau and GBA enterprises in seizing regional development opportunities.
