To continuously enhance emergency response capabilities for cybersecurity incidents, CTM and the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) jointly conducted a Telecom Network Incident Emergency Response Drill yesterday (9th). During the simulation, CTM Network Management Center mobilized nearly 60 network engineers and equipment vendors to test and evaluate the team’s capabilities in rapid response, collaborative handling, emergency restoration and real-time reporting under sudden network contingencies. The team successfully completed all testing objectives, accumulating valuable experience to fortify Macau’s cybersecurity shield.
The Telecom Network Incident Emergency Response Drill, jointly organized by CTM and CTT, was held yesterday (9th) at 10am. The exercise simulated an anomaly in one of CTM’s international fixed telephone exchanges, which led to a widespread impact on fixed-line services. Throughout the simulation, CTM Network Management Center strictly adhered to its emergency response protocols. The drill comprehensively evaluated CTM’s existing emergency response mechanisms and its efficiency in handling network contingencies across all critical phases, including initial incident detection, reporting procedures, service impact assessment, fault isolation and diagnosis, escalation when module replacements failed to clear the fault, emergency diversion for customer service restoration, vendor technical support, systematic repairs, system health checks and operation log archiving.
Thomas Ng, Vice President of Network Services, CTM stated that driven by the duty to safeguard telecommunications infrastructure in Macau, CTM has established comprehensive emergency response protocols to address natural disasters and network contingencies, while continuously enhancing engineers' operational readiness through targeted drills. He expressed gratitude to CTT for their support and participation in this simulation, noting that the Drill further strengthened real-time notification mechanisms with public departments during emergency events.
CTM will continue to optimize its emergency mechanisms and operational workflows, further reinforcing Macau’s cybersecurity shield.
