Take Part in the Open Gateway Initiative and “Hand-in-Hand” Program CTM Fostering International Cooperation to Create Smarty City Ecosystem

To realize the vision of "Digital Macau" smart city development, CTM actively joins hands with global partners to introduce and create smart application solutions, continuously promoting the construction of Macau's smart city ecosystem. At the 2024 Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Shanghai at the end of last month, CTM signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Global Systems Association for Mobile Communications (GSMA), joining and becoming a member of their Open Gateway Initiative, working together with global operators and technology pioneers to accelerate the development of global digital services and applications.

 

On the opening day of the 2024 MWC (Shanghai) on Jun 26, Mr. Henry Calvert, Head of Network at GSMA and Mr. Sam Lei, General Manager of Network and Services Development, CTM signed a memorandum of cooperation at the conference, announcing that joining in of CTM into the Open Gateway Initiative launched by GSMA, working together to accelerate the development of global digital services and applications.

 

Sam Lei expressed that CTM is developing APIs within a unified framework, more seamless communications can be provided to developers, benefitting the entire ecosystem. This not only provides developers with stronger digital capabilities and higher service security, but is also an important means of unleashing the potential of 5G. Currently, CTM is using the APIs under the Open Gateway framework to explore various innovations, including enhancing customer services experience and providing user identity authentication services. CTM looks forward to collaborating with all global Open Gateway members, so that service providers and developers can develop innovative 5G-based applications and services more quickly and conveniently.

 

GSMA Open Gateway is a framework of common network Application Programmable Interfaces (APIs) designed to provide universal access to operator networks for developers. It helps to enhance and deploy services more quickly across operator networks via single points of access to the world’s largest connectivity platform, accelerating technology development and digital transformation.

 

In order to maintain close cooperation with international telecom operators, during the MWC (Shanghai) event, Ms. Ebel Cham, Vice President of Commercial, CTM also attended the "Hand-in-Hand" Program Global Partner Conference organized by China Mobile International. Ms. Cham engaged in multiple panel discussions and roundtables with over 300 telecom operators from over 30 countries and regions, she also attended the launching ceremony of "Hand-in-Hand" Program, reflecting a new chapter of cooperation with international operator partners. Under the theme "Collaborate to Innovate, Shape the Intelligent Future", the Initiative advocates to embrace changes in information and communication technology, empowering digital transformation in all sectors.
