5.5G Characteristics
Ultra-high Speed
Just imagine upgrading the highway from two lanes to two hundred lanes, allowing an exceptionally large number of vehicles driving at the same time, enabling them to switch amongst different lanes instantly to avoid traffic jams, and the average speed will also be maintained at more than 160 km/hr. Just like 5.5G, the speed will not be slowed down due to the transmission of signals going back and forth, and it has "ultra-high speeds". CTM 5.5G currently has a download speed of up to 10Gbps, which is 10 times faster than the 5G download speed. To download a 2-hour 14GB 4K ultra-HD movie, CTM 5.5G can be done within 56 seconds. By using the 5.5G networks, even watching 4K or 8K live broadcasts, XR (AR, VR) live sports event presentations, and such all have the same 1Gbps high-speed experience!
Ultra-low Latency
At present, there are various types of XR (AR, VR) experiences on the market. Although XR (AR, VR) devices are exciting and entertaining, it is inevitable XR (AR, VR) experiencers may feel a little lightheaded while having fun, which is most likely caused by network latency. When XR (AR, VR) experiencers are in action, the entire system will generate certain delay with buried lag from monitoring the action reflected in the XR (AR, VR) field of view. This will make the experiencers feel immersed in the virtual world. However, when using a 5.5G network, it will greatly reduce latency and enhance the overall comfort of the experience. When 4G network is used, the latency can be as low as 20ms, while under 5.5G network, the delay can be as low as 1ms, and it is precisely because of this delay gap that 5.5G has a wider range of applications! For example, 5.5G can be applied to different fields such as telemedicine surgery, automatic driving, factory automation, remote control, etc., even when using aerial photography in real life, it is both safer and smoother!
Massive Connectivity
One of the great many features of 5G is its hundred billion Connectivity; the network transmission capacity is 10 times wider than 5G. In the era of 4G, about 2,000 active users can be connected in every km2; but in 5.5G IoT era, over 1,000,000 active users can be connected in every km2! 5.5G supports RedCap IoT and massive IoT connectivity, enabling cost optimization and technology innovation for IoT business applications! In the future, you can use VR fitting and it enables you to shop for everything in the comfort of your home; you can also enjoy sitting back and relaxing in your car while the GPS takes control of your self-driving car to take you to your destination refreshed. There are tons of smart equipment that will integrate into your daily life riding on the 5.5G network. See the future with Smart everything!
5.5G FAQ
1. What is 5.5G?
5G (fifth-generation) represents the latest mobile communication technology. The transmission of data under the 5G network will be faster and the delay will be much less than 4G. 5G is not only limited to mobile phone communications, but it also brings greater changes to the Internet of Things (IoTs) and helps the infrastructure of creating smart cities. 5.5G as a 5G network upgrade, the network speed, latency, and the massive connections has 10- times higher, providing back-up support for the high-quality network.
2. What are the advantages of 5.5G? What changes can be brought to the digital society?
5G has the characteristics of high speed, low latency, and large connections. This means downloading large-capacity content will be faster than before. Similarly, 5G is also the key to a new era of the Internet of Things (IoTs), which not only enhances the number of connections, but it also reduces latency from remote communications. It also plays an important role in promoting the development of smart cities. 5.5G not only provides broadband real-time interaction, but also realizes millisecond latency cloud rendering experience, enjoying the ultimate immersive network experience.
In the area of social digital transformation, CTM will also penetrate 5.5G technology into different industries, combining private network technology, Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence; playing a vital role in the development of Macau's smart city in scenarios such as 「Smart Travel」, 「Smart Healthcare」, 「Smart Finance」, 「Smart MICE」, 「Smart Tourism」, 「Smart Education」, 「Smart Governance」 and 「Smart Police」.
3. What changes will 5.5G bring to my life?
5.5G brings tremendous changes to daily life. With the high-speed feature, users can enjoy the happiness brought by cell phones anywhere through the 5.5G network, whether they are in crowds or at home; the scenes brought by anchors are no longer limited by space; low-latency video enjoys face-to-face realism; the extreme 4K video and XR(AR/VR) experience, with more detailed video images; and the advanced high-spec 3A masterpiece with teammates in cloud games. Thanks to the big connection feature, multiple smart devices are connected as one, making life more convenient and happy.
4. When will the 5.5G service be available?
CTM 5.5G service will be officially launched on 22 July 2024, and all CTM 5G customers will be automatically upgraded to 5.5G service. 5. What is the tested speed of upload/download for 5G & 5.5G network?
After multiple CTM 5G outdoor speed testing, the download speed was found to be as high as 1.6Gbps respectively. However, the average outdoor upload / download speed is 70Mbps/300Mbps respectively. It only takes less than 60 seconds to download an entire high-definition movie! The actual network speed will be highly dependent by factors such as on-site environment, the number of people using the network at the same time, the distance between the signal station and the user, handset’s quality as well as the external bandwidth of the website. 5.5G also brings increased network speeds, with network technology enabling up to 10 times faster upload/download speeds of up to 1Gbps/10Gbps compared to 5G, further enhancing the user's experience of using the network.
